UNCG Awards & Scholarhips

The UNCG Staff Senate recognizes outstanding contributions within the UNCG community through three distinguished awards – Staff Stars, the Staff Excellence Award, and the Ezekiel Robinson Staff Emeritus Award.

All-Southern Conference Award

Each year the Southern Conference recognizes members of the faculty and staff who have made a significant impact in the lives of students and served their institution in significant ways.

Gladys Strawn Bullard Award

This award was established to recognize and reward members of the student body, faculty, and staff of UNCG who provide Outstanding Leadership and Service to the University.

UNC System Level (and Beyond) Awards & Scholarships

The Erskine B. Bowles Staff Service Award

UNC Staff Assembly seeks to improve communications, understanding, and morale throughout the UNC System and to assist in increasing efficiency and productivity in campus operations. This system level award, recognizes staff employees whose accomplishments are consistent with the goals of the University and the University’s public service mission.

Governor’s awards for excellence

The Governor’s Award for Excellence is the highest honor a state employee may receive for dedicated service to the State of North Carolina and its residents. Nominations may be submitted by coworkers, managers and/or Agency Leadership to recognize any exemplary state employees who lead by example and contribute well beyond their normal job requirements.

Thomas W. Ross, Sr. Visionary Leader Award

Created in 2015 to celebrate a member of the UNC Staff Assembly who has proven to be an exemplary leader and one who inspires a shared vision on their campus and throughout the whole of the UNC Staff Assembly.

Janet B. Royster Memorial Scholarship

The JBR Memorial Staff Scholarship Fund provides one or more annual awards, based on the availability of funds. Scholarships provide assistance towards earning a degree or other professional certification.
