Our Commitment to Service

Service is our motto and a way of life at UNCG. The Staff Senate Service Committee identifies community service activities or initiatives on campus that are relevant to UNCG staff and coordinates staff participation in these activities. A strong emphasis is placed on Senate presence in and devotion to the UNCG community. Senators and their constituencies are encouraged to submit their service interests, needs, and ideas to the committee chairs throughout the year. Here are a few of our long-standing programs and partnerships.

Spartan Season of Giving

Every holiday season, the Staff Senate help make the holidays a little brighter for individuals and families in our community. We always have a big wrapping party to tie a big bow around this special event!

Family Room

Family Room Foster Care Resource Center is a nonprofit organization that provides love, encouragement, and support to families who foster and the children in their care. The Staff Senate collects donations, helps keep their inventory in order, and the store tidy.

Spartan Open Pantry

Founded and operated by Wesley-Luther United Methodist Church, UNC Greensboro’s food pantry provides students and employees who need a little help at the end of the month, homeless students and families who depend on the pantry for complete support, and assists our neighbors who need a hand. The SOP is located in College Place UMC at 509 Tate St., on the corner of Tate and Spring Garden Street.  The pantry entrance is on the back side of the church off the parking lot. Free parking is available during pantry hours.

Honoring Veterans and Armed service Members

The Staff Senate is honoring veterans and service members with a card-signing and drop-in event, inviting the campus community to express gratitude and connect. Additional activities are being considered to further recognize and support our veterans.

UNCG Garden Plots

Available for use by UNCG faculty, staff, and students, the purpose of the UNCG Gardens is to build healthy, interactive urban communities through the collective production of locally grown, organic food.

Teacher Warehouse Supply

The Staff Senate believes education is everyone’s business. We want teachers and students to have the tools they need for success, so every year we partner with Guilford Education Alliance (GEA) to collect classroom supplies.
