2020-21 Staff Senate Scholarship

The purpose of the Staff Senate Scholarship is to provide an award for a permanent employee or eligible dependent. Established in 2006, this scholarship provides an opportunity to remember deceased colleagues and honor the hard work and dedication of current employees.

Eligible applicants must:

  • Have a completed FAFSA on file with U.N.C.G. Financial Aid by May 1st, 2020
  • Be enrolled at a degree-seeking program at U.N.C.G.
  • Be a North Carolina resident
  • Be a permanent, full-time U.N.C.G. Staff Member, with at least 5 years of service to the state
  • Remain a permanent employee of U.N.C.G. through the period for which the scholarship is awarded
  • Meet Satisfactory Academic Progress Requirements set forth by U.N.C.G. Financial Aid

Application Deadline: May 15, 2020 at 11:59 p.m.

Staff Excellence Award Nominations

Do you know a staff member who shows outstanding devotion to duty, is an innovator in their work, and has made significant service contributions to the university? If so, take time to nominate that person for a Staff Excellence Award!

The University Staff Excellence Award of $1,000 will be presented to two deserving permanent SHRA or EHRA Non-faculty employees who are in good standing, and have been employed at UNCG for at least two years as of the nomination deadline ( March 13, 2020 ). Staff, faculty, supervisors, administrators and/or students may make nominations for this award.

Supplies Needed for Teacher Supply Warehouse

UNCG Staff Senate is conducting the annual supply drive to benefit the Guilford Education Alliance Teacher Supply Warehouse. (More information is available in the Campus Weekly article as well.)

The Warehouse offers new and gently-used school supplies to teachers in Guilford County Schools free of charge. Donations from our campus community will help restock the shelves so teachers can visit the facility up to four times a year for items needed in their classrooms.

Most needed supplies:
copy paper, #2 pencils, pencil boxes, crayons, notebooks, colored markers, colored pencils, permanent markers, construction paper, dry erase markers, highlighters, index cards, post-it notes, 2
pocket folders, clipboards, facial tissues, scissors, Clorox wipes

Donations can be dropped off in collection bins through Friday, February 28 at:

  • Curry Building, main lobby, 2nd floor
  • School of Education Building, main lobby
  • Jackson Library, main lobby
  • Bryan School of Business & Economics, room 401-D
  • Moore Nursing Building, main lobby
  • MHRA Building, main lobby
  • 821 S. Josephine Boyd Building, receptionist area
  • Joint School of Nanoscience and Nanoengineering, room 208M
  • Mossman (bin location TBD)
  • Moran Commons (main lobby near Taco Bell)

Out of the Garden Volunteer Opportunity

When: March 12, 2020 from 2:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. at St. John’s United Methodist Church

Please sign up to volunteer with “Out of the Garden Project” to help with the Fresh Mobile Markets – Food Drops. This is an incredible opportunity for our UNCG staff to engage with the community and see what the Out of the Garden Project is all about. And use the 24 hours of community service leave you are allotted as a SHRA or EHRA employee.
