OWRR Volunteers Needed for Move In Day

Posted on Friday, August 9th, 2019 by staffAdmin under Service.

Volunteers are needed to help O.W.R.R. (Office of Waste Reduction & Recycling) on Move In Day. Each shift will meet at the end of College Ave. near Guilford Residence Hall. Volunteers will be given an orange shirt and gloves that they can keep afterwards as a thank you gift along with a meal pass that can be used at Fountain View Dining for a free lunch that day.

The job entails reminding incoming students and their families on how to sort their move-in trash properly and break down bulky boxes. During move-in Facilities Operations staff put out additional trash and recycling containers to cope with the sharp increase of packaging and moving containers needing disposal in the Residence Halls as students prepare their dorm rooms. These temporary dumpster sites need help staying tidy and safe, these containers are outdoors and historically August is a very hot time of year.

Volunteers need to wear clothing conducive to working outside in the heat with minimal shade along with wearing closed toed shoes. Bring water with you! If you have questions, please contact Ben Kunka at 336-709-9707.
